The Building and Safety Division is responsible for the enforcement of the building laws of the City, which include federal and state requirements. The Division is responsible for permit issuance, plan checking and field inspection of all building, grading, plumbing, electrical and mechanical permits.

• Permit issuance hours: 7:30 -11:00 a.m., Monday through Thursday.
• Permits issued to contractors.
• Permits issued to owner/ builder for owner-occupied units only.
• Contractor must obtain City Business License.
• Contractor must show pocket license and Workman's Compensation made to State Contractor's Board.

• Plan check not required for residential additions less than 600 sq. ft. (Under Type V Sheet.)
• Site plan, floor plan and roof plan is required for all additions.
• All commercial work requires plan check.
• Initial plan check takes approximately three (3) weeks.
