The Building and Safety Division enforces local, state and federal building laws. The Division is responsible for permit issuance, plan check and field inspection of all building, grading, plumbing, electrical, mechanical permits and the code enforcement program.
Permits
Permit issuance hours: 7:30 -11:00 a.m., Monday through Thursday.
Permits issued to contractors.
Permits issued to owner/ builder for owner-occupied units only.
Contractor must obtain City Business License.
Contractor must show pocket license and Workman's Compensation made to State Contractor's Board.
Plan Check
Plan check is required for residential additions less than 600 sq. ft. (Under Type V Sheet.)
Site plan, floor plan and roof plan is required for all additions.
All commercial work requires plan check.
Initial plan check takes approximately three (2) weeks.
