The Planning Division provides a responsive service to the community by examining and reviewing current and proposed developments and ensuring that they are consistent with the General Plan and current Zoning Ordinance regulation. The Planning Division is also responsible for the processing of land use inquiries, subdivisions, parcel maps, General Plan amendments, zone changes, variance and conditional use permits. • General Plan Information
  The City of Bell Gardens General Plan 2010 is a comprehensive, long-range plan that will guide the city and serve as its constitution on into the 21^st century. The General Plan sets the stage for the City’s future and places Bell Gardens in what promises to be a position of leadership in the region.
  
  The City’s General Plan contains seven sections or elements. These seven sections or elements are Land Use, Circulation and Transportation, Open Space and Recreation, Conservation, Safety, Noise and Housing. Together, the General Plan elements clearly articulate the community’s vision for the long-term development of the City.

Business License Zoning Compliance

• A business license request is reviewed by the Planning Division to determine compliance with the Zoning Ordinance i.e. permitted use, parking, signage, property and building maintenance, etc.

• Upon zoning compliance approval, application is forwarded to the Business License Division for finalization of license issuance.
