City Holiday - New Year's Day

City Hall and City facilities will be closed on Thursday, January 1, 2026. We’ll be back to regular business hours on Monday, January 5, 2026.

The following City offices will also be closed during the holiday:

•Bell Gardens Veterans Park Administration Office

•The Community Family Service Center at Veterans Park

•Senior Center at Veterans Park

•Clara Street Senior Center

•Ford Park Main Office

•Bell Gardens Veterans Park Game Room

•Neighborhood Youth Center

•Sport Office and Sports Center

•Aquatic Center

•Public Works Office Closed. To report emergencies, please contact the Police Department.

•City Planning, Building & Safety, Business License, Housing, and Economic Development Offices

•Code Enforcement Office. Urgent matters to be referred to the Police Department.

 

Other City offices, programs and services:

• Please note there will be no street sweeping on January 1. Street sweeping is not rescheduled, so be sure to park accordingly on these dates!

• Please note there will be no trash collection on January 1. Your trash collection will be delayed by one day if your collection falls on a holiday.

• There will be no transportation services on 1/1 for Dial-A-Ride or fixed route.

•Supper Program. Closed 1/1 and 1/2 (Veterans Park Game Room, Neighborhood Youth Center).

•After-School Sites - NYC, Veterans Park, Marlow and Ford Park Sites Closed on 1/1 and 1/2

•Homework Club closed.

•Art Space - Open Art Studio Experience canceled on 1/1.

•Resident Art and Yard Sale canceled on 1/2.

•Park Pool & Aquatics programming closed

•Golf Course will remain open 7 AM to 3 PM, last tee at 1:30PM, on 1/1.

•Golf Course will remain open 7AM to 4:30PM, last tee at 3PM, on 1/2.

•The Free Farmer's Market is closed on 1/2.

•Police Department services will not be impacted by the holiday and will continue to operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

•Public Records Request submitted on New Year’s Day will be deemed received by the City Clerk’s office on January 5, 2026.

•Passports. No passport service appointments.

•The City of Bell Gardens provides up to 6 large sandbags to residents on a first come, first serve basis due to limited supply.  Residents can pick up sand & sandbags at Public Works, 8327 Garfield Ave during working hours Monday through Thursday 7am to 5pm.   Proof of residency is required and visitors must check-in at the front office.   During after-hours and weekends, sand & sandbags are also available to residents at the Fire Department, 7000 Garfield Ave.  Please call the Public Works Department at (562) 806-7770 for more information.
