Bell Gardens Business & Resident Grants Now Available

On June 8, 2020, the Bell Gardens City Council approved four new grants totaling $623,411 to help our community with the financial impacts of COVID-19.  

These grants were made possible by the City’s re-allocation of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds and new funds provided by the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. The Los Angeles County Community Development Authority (LACDA) recently cleared the City’s Small Business Assistance Grant and Residential Rental Assistance Grant for funding. The Child Care Subsidy and Emergency Utility Assistance Grants will be presented soon.  

On June 30, 2020, the City Council authorized another $400,000 to provide additional assistance to the community. Direction on the specific use of these funds will be considered at the City Council meeting of July 27, 2020.  

Residents and business owners are eligible for all programs regardless of immigration status.  Here is a brief summary of each approved grant:

“SMALL BUSINESS ASSISTANCE GRANT” (Available Now)
Intended for small businesses severely impacted by the pandemic mandated closures.  Non-essential businesses will be given priority.  Total of $3,000 will be awarded to 50 businesses through a lottery process followed by a qualifications process.  Any business not selected will be placed on a waiting list for future funds.

“RESIDENTIAL RENTAL ASSISTANCE GRANT” (Available Now)
Intended for residential tenants impacted by loss of employment due to the pandemic.  Total of 50% of rent will be paid for 3 months, up to $500/month. Funds are available for 200 households and will be awarded through a lottery process followed by a qualifications process. Any renter not selected will be placed on a waiting list for future funds.  

“CHILD CARE SUBSIDY” (Coming Soon)
Intended to assist parents that have lost their jobs due to the pandemic and need child care while in the process of establishing new employment.  More information will be provided once this grant is cleared by the LACDA. 

“EMERGENCY UTILITY ASSISTANCE GRANT” (Coming Soon)
Intended to assist residents who have lost their jobs due to the pandemic and need to maintain critical utilities (i.e., electric, gas, and water).  More information will be provided once this grant is cleared by the LACDA.

Becas Para Negocios y Residentes Ahora Disponible

El 8 de junio de 2020, el Consejo Municipal de Bell Gardens aprobó cuatro nuevas subvenciones por un total de $623,411 para ayudar a nuestra comunidad con los impactos financieros de COVID-19.  

Estas subvenciones fueron posibles gracias a la reasignación de fondos municipals de Subvenciones en Bloque para el Desarollo Comunitario (CDBG) y nuevos fondos proporcionados por la ayuda federal para el Coronavirus , Alivio y Seguridad Económica (CARES). La Autoridad de Desarrollo Comunitario del Condado de Los Angeles (LACDA) recientemente despejo la Subvención de Asistencia de Negocios Pequeños de la Ciudad y la Subvención de Asistencia con Pagos de Renta para obtener fondos. El Subsidio de Cuidado Infantil y las Subvenciones de Asistencia de Emgergencia para Servicios Públicos se presentarán pronto.  

El 30 de junio de 2020, el Consejo Muncipal autorizó otros $400,000 para proporcionar asistencia adicional a la comunidad. Dirección sobre el uso específico de estos fondos se examinará en la reunión del Consejo Municipal del 27 de julio de 2020.  

Los residentes y propietarios de negocios son elegibles para todos los programas independientemente de su estatus migratorio.  Aquí hay un breve resumen de cada subvención aprobada:

"ASISTENCIA DE NEGOCIOS PEQUEÑOS" (Disponible ahora)
Destinado a ayudar a las pequeñas empresas gravemente afectadas por clausuras mandatories debido a la pandemia.  Se dará prioridad a las empresas no esenciales.  Un total de $3,000 se otorgarán a 50 empresas a través de un proceso de lotería seguido de un proceso de calificación.  Cualquier empresa no seleccionada se colocará en una lista de espera para fondos futuros.

"ASISTENCIA CON PAGOS DE RENTA" (Disponible ahora)
Destinado a ayudar a inquilinos residenciales afectados por la pérdida de empleo debido a la pandemia.  Un total de 50% de alquiler se pagará por 3 meses, hasta $500/mes. Los fondos están disponibles para 200 hogares y se otorgarán a través de un proceso de lotería seguido por un proceso de calificación. Cualquier inquilino no seleccionado será colocado en una lista de espera para fondos futuros.  

"SUBSIDIO DE CUIDADO INFANTIL" (Próximamente)
Destinado a ayudar a los padres que han perdido sus puestos de trabajo debido a la pandemia y necesitan cuidado infantil mientras están en el proceso de establecer un nuevo empleo.  Se proporcionará más información una vez que la subvención sea aprobada por la LACDA.

"ASISTENCIA DE EMERGENCIA PARA SERVICIOS PÚBLICOS" (Próximamente)
Destinado a ayudar a los residentes que han perdido sus trabajos debido a la pandemia y necesitan mantener servicios públicos críticos (es decir, electricidad, gas y agua).  Se proporcionará más información una vez que la subvención sea aprobada por la LACDA.
