Program Information 

The City of Bell Gardens is introducing a new CDBG Residential Rehabilitation Program, a federally funded initiative supported by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). This program is designed to improve the safety, livability, and affordability of housing for low- and moderate-income households while supporting HUD’s broader goal of developing viable communities through decent housing, a suitable living environment, and expanded economic opportunities.

All program activities must meet at least one of HUD’s national objectives, which include benefiting low- and moderate-income residents, eliminating slums and blight, or addressing urgent community needs. The program focuses on preserving and improving affordable housing, preventing neighborhood deterioration, enhancing community infrastructure, and supporting economic stability.

Through this program, the City of Bell Gardens provides grant funding—subject to availability—to assist eligible homeowners with necessary home repairs.

• Grant amounts are up to $30,000 for single-family homes and $20,000 per unit for multi-family properties.
• City representatives help guide participants through the process by assessing needed repairs, coordinating with contractors, and managing project implementation.
• The program is intended for households earning 80% or less of the Los Angeles County median income, and
  • All household members aged 18 and older must have their income documented.
  • Income limits vary based on household size and are updated annually
